PROJECT : ELECTROPARK SIGNBOARD

1. IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEM

i) Parking spaces especially in big cities are increasingly limited nowadays. Therefore, some people tend to reserve a parking space for themselves by putting a ‘reserved’ signboard on it, to obstruct other vehicles from being parked on it. This method maybe helpful, but then, difficulties come when people want to park their car on the reserved parking space. They have to stop for a while, come out of their car and remove the blocking signboard before they can park on it. Definitely, it would not be pleasurable for the drivers to do so or asking someone to help them for the job. That is because it is time consuming as well as quite bothersome. In addition, the drivers definitely do not want to come out of their car to remove the blocking signboard in hot and rainy day.
ii) Limited parking space is also one of the main problem faced by the residents in housing estates. Commonly, only one parking space is provided for one family in housing estates. However, some family may have more than one vehicle. Therefore, some of them may park their car on other people’s parking space. As a result, misunderstand between the residents in housing estates often occur.

2. Based on the problems mentioned, we gained an idea to invent a helpful device in order to solve the problem. We invented an electronic signboard to replace the ordinary ‘reserved’ signboard commonly used presently.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
- This is an electronic signboard. It can be controlled by a remote control which applies Bluetooth technology to raise or lower the signboard.

This means, the drivers do not have to come out of their car anymore to remove the blocking signboard before they can park on it. Instead, the electronic signboard can be controlled by the remote control, which the drivers use to control the electronic signboard from inside their car. They no longer have to come out of their car in hot or rainy day, as well as wasting their time for parking.
The resident in condominium or apartment can also apply this device on their parking space. The main benefit is , their parking space cannot be used by other vehicle and no more misuse will happen in future.

The electronic signboard is also equipped with a sensor to avoid car stealing which occur at night.

Once the car is park as shown above, the sensor will be turned on. In case the car is stolen, the sensor will activate the alarm. The sensor can only be switch off by the owner who have the remote control.

POTENTIAL TO BE COMMERCIALIZE

This device has a high potential to be commercialized based because of the decreasing of parking space. More people rent private parking space in the cities. The number of vehicle on the road increases every year. The demand for private parking space become very drastic. Electropark signboard can be installed easily by everyone based on the DIY concept.
